When a washer stops halfway through a load, immediately restarting it can erase the most useful clue: where the cycle stopped. Modern washers intentionally pause for sensing, balancing, draining, heating, and safety locks, while other pauses come from water, drain, power, or component problems. The fastest path is to document the stage before changing several things at once.

Know when a reset is useful and when it hides the symptom
