Sliding Patio Door Hard to Open? Clean the Track Before You Blame the Rollers

A heavy sliding patio door can drag because of grit in the sill track, roller adjustment, worn rollers, frame movement, or lock misalignment. Start with low-risk cleaning and observation before removing a glass panel.

A sliding patio door should not require a shoulder check every time you go outside. When it becomes heavy or jerky, dirt in the sill track is the easiest cause to test, but worn rollers or an out-of-square frame can feel similar. Heavy glass panels and structural misalignment are not casual one-person jobs
