Do not defeat anti-scald settings to get more hot water

Many shower valves include a temperature limit stop that is set during installation. Moving that stop without understanding the valve and actual hot-water temperature can increase scald risk rather than solve a pressure-balance problem. Follow the exact manufacturer's adjustment procedure if calibration is truly needed, or have a plumber set it.

If the shower can exceed about 120°F, if the temperature swings are severe, or if the valve cannot be controlled predictably, stop treating the problem as a comfort issue. When replacement is appropriate, match the rough-in valve—not just the trim

A thermostatic valve can control temperature differently from a simple pressure-balanced valve, but changing valve type usually means plumbing work inside the wall.
