A small stream from the front of a washer looks like a failed door gasket, but the rubber seal is only one part of the diagnosis. Pet hair, detergent buildup, a sock edge, overloading, or excess suds can all keep the door glass from sealing the way it should. The safest first pass is visual: dry the machine, clean the seal, and watch where the next leak begins.

Pull back only the flexible user-accessible folds of the gasket far enough to remove lint, coins, hair, or a small item that is plainly visible. Do not remove the retaining band or cabinet panels. The goal is to restore a clean sealing surface, not to begin gasket replacement.

Use the detergent amount recommended for the washer, detergent concentration, load size, and soil level. If the manufacturer offers an extra-rinse or washer-cleaning procedure for detergent buildup, follow that instead of pouring additional soap or household chemicals into the machine.
Loading can break the seal even when the gasket is intact
A sleeve, drawstring, small towel, or other item caught between the glass and gasket can wick water to the outside. An overloaded drum can also press laundry against the door and prevent normal tumbling. Check that every item is fully inside the drum before closing the door.
If leaks occur only with one bulky item or when the machine is tightly packed, correct the load first. A leak that appears on every cycle with an empty or modest load is stronger evidence of a seal, dispenser, hose, or internal problem.
Visible damage is a reason to stop testing, not to seal it with glue
A torn or punctured door bellow usually needs the correct replacement part and installation procedure. Adhesive, tape, silicone, or a patch can interfere with the door seal and may fail under detergent, heat, movement, and repeated flexing.
If water appears from behind the front panel, the dispenser area, or under the cabinet rather than directly at the glass-to-gasket seam, the source may not be the door seal at all. A service technician can pressure-test hoses and connections without guessing from the location of the puddle on the floor.
